the power of paint

so i went to dallas this weekend to surprise my baby sister and help her move into her new apartment since i'm kinda seen as the family interior designer (but it's only because that title has the word "designer" in it and i like to color)... but in any case, i somehow convinced her to paint an accent wall candy apple red! three trips to home depot, wishing i had brought my overalls, and a thousand paint swatches later... here are the not so great pictures from my iphone, but you get the idea!

:: before ::

:: she was a little nervous ::

:: after ::

fun, right?! all the decorating isn't quite complete yet, but i was just excited about the red wall! go big and bold or go home (to boring walls)...

legs for days

the "legs project" by tommy agriodimas (above) just makes me laugh... i'm all about looking for deeper meaning in art and finding a message, but these just take on a goofy story of their own. his series was based on guy bourdin's work (below) who worked for vogue.

don't get me wrong, i like both artists, but one series looks fairly artistically sound while the other looks like pictures posted on facebook... you decide haha

play with your food!

an elegant martini bar (& i don't even like them but i would make one if it looked like this!)

for all my back to school friends... cheese sticks, hams & bugles! adorable! i'm pretty sure some supermom threw this together for her perfect little angels haha

a brainfood bar where you can pick the food according to what you need to improve on that day! mood, memory, whatever! just genius (do you think they have a bin for that one too?)

eat. pray. love.

i finally saw this fantastic movie this weekend... totally just my type! you're dumb if you don't go read the book and see the movie. the end.

:: eat ::

:: pray ::

:: love ::

Any movie that talks about stuffing your face in Italy for four months and finding happiness in that on top of achieving spiritual balance and clarity is just my type. I'm so glad I read the book though by Liz Gilbert beforehand!. the movie did a good job of following the story - but her witty language and wealth of spiritual and relationship advice couldn't be matched in the 1 1/2 hour film... with that being said though, I had to share a few of my favorite quotes from the book that were so eye-opening:

"stop wearing your wishbone where your backbone ought to be..."

"this is a good sign, having a broken heart. it means we have tried for something."

"to lose balance sometimes for love is part of living a balanced life."

"the mosquitos here are big enough to rape a chicken."

"there's a crack (or cracks) in everyone... that's how the light of God gets in."

"having a baby is like getting a tattoo on your face. you really need to be certain it's what you want before you commit."

"i have a tendency not only to see the best in everyone, but to assume that everyone is emotionally capable of reaching his highest potential. i have fallen in love more times than i care to count with the highest potential of a man, rather than with the man himself, and i have hung on to the relationship for a long time (sometimes far too long) waiting for the man to ascend to his own greatness. many times in romance i have been a victim of my own optimism."

"look for God. look for God like a man with his head on fire looks for water."

seriously, go read the book and then go see this movie!

the two paths

it's friday!!! & things can go one of two ways this weekend...

i'm hoping for that latter of the two :) but i love that it all goes down hill from bad literature and then you become an outcast haha and what in the world is "coquettery?"

gouda bless texas

i adore the salty goodness of cheese. so of course i also love this texas-shaped cheese board, because i myself take part in the madness that is texas pride. recently i even made a meal that included a cream cheese dip for starters, grilled cheese, and broccoli with cheese... all at someone else's request but still funny.

a venti surprise!

did you know that you can customize your starbucks giftcards?!

my very own drink order!

that's me, tiara & all!

loving the paisley

i don't know why, but i love this idea! way to go starbucks... looks like you had your morning coffee. so if you're in need of a birthday gift or a way to say "hey, you're awesome" then what a great way to personalize your message FOR FREE. or you could be selfish like yours truly and buy one for yourself.
