free the clouds

thinking outside of the box. it's good stuff. especially when done with a great girl friend that's equally as crazy as you. clouds just don't belong in the confines of cardboard. happy weekending!

amp it up

talk about two of my favorites coming together in one project: food and type! dan bechemeyer's typographic illustrations creatively marry cliche food combinations and the ampersand (&). i just adore how playful these are and totally just my type :)

the monday hum

waking up and feeling refreshed is just the best way to roll out of bed on a monday... it just feels like christmas morning to me! speaking of which, i may have watched "the holiday" last night... what's that you say? april is too early for christmas movies? never. not in my glittery little world.

today's tune was actually inspired by the wake-up scene with kate winslet when she's jamming to jet. great (and exciting) way to jump out of bed for sure! have a pretty day!

painting in the park

refreshing saturdays are always the best! this last weekend, my designer friend and i decided the weather was too fantastic to not go do something outside... so painting in the park it was! hours of artsy fartsy emo time were enjoyed by all after a fantastic greek lunch at neko neko's. we each bought four square canvases to do one big painting but only got through one each... oh well!

google april fools joke

google has a great sense of humor apparently... on april fools, the company pulled numerous pranks including making up a wack job opportunity as an "autocompleter" as long as you can "figure out what people are going to write in milliseconds."

but my personal favorite, as a font nerd, was that if you searched "helvetica" (a beloved modern font of the design world) the entire page would then show up in "comic sans," the most hated font ever haha props, google. you gave me a good giggle!

the monday hum

who wants to be normal anyway? live outside of the box! do something crazy every day... "all else fades away."

the richness of family

the amount of poverty in this world overwhelms me especially when i start to count all of my own blessings that i too often take for granted. i think the Lord puts a certain aching in all of our hearts to help those who are orphaned or homeless or don't have clean water to drink or even the wealthy who are poor in spirit.

yesterday i read about the story of the alexander family and their adoption of abe from ethiopia. to say that their story of diligence had me in tears is an understatement. it was like ugly cry at work, not pretty. their hearts for mission and service though truly show the richness of family.

this sweet boy was born with brain damage after having several strokes in his mother's womb, which made doctors assume he would not be able to walk or talk or feed himself. he is making wonderful strides though! please please please go read more here about his adoption and watch the video of his infectious laughter :) you are sure to see the brightness of the Lord in his smile!
